MCP client ยท Codex

Your schedule,in the Codex CLI.

Add two lines to your Codex config and the agent can read your roster and prepare changes. Built for people who already have a terminal open all day.

Best for: Codex CLI users who want schedule context beside their work.

Setup

3 steps.About a minute.

  • A Soon account
  • The standalone Codex CLI, run from a normal terminal
  1. 1

    Open your Codex config

    ~/.codex/config.toml
  2. 2

    Add the Soon server

    [mcp_servers.soon]
    url = "https://mcp.soon.works/mcp"
  3. 3

Start Codex and ask about your schedule

A browser opens the Soon sign-in page. Approve once.

    codex

Worth knowing. Use the standalone Codex CLI from a normal terminal. The sign-in sends you back to a short-lived address on your own machine, so Codex needs to be able to open and reach your usual browser. The build inside the ChatGPT desktop app has not worked for this in our testing.

Once connected

Ask in plain language.Confirm before anything changes.

Codex sees exactly what you see in Soon, and nothing more. Your permissions carry over, so if you cannot edit a board yourself, neither can the assistant.

You ask

“What is on my schedule this week?”

You ask

“Who can cover Friday evening?”

You ask

“Show me who is over their contract hours.”

Soon marks every write action as destructive, so Codex asks before it runs one. The prompt comes from Codex, not from Soon, so only connect clients you trust. Soon can create boards from an assistant, but never delete them.

How it connects

One standard port.No keys to paste.

Soon speaks MCP, the open protocol for connecting AI tools to real systems. You sign in with your normal Soon account and approve once. There is no API key to copy and nothing to paste into the chat.

Your client asks first

Write actions are flagged as destructive, so Codex prompts you before running one. Reads happen without a prompt.

Your permissions apply

The assistant acts as you. A member reads their own schedule and requests leave. A planner does what a planner does.

Disconnect any time

Remove the MCP server the same way you added it. The client loses access as soon as you do.

Read the MCP privacy notice for the full detail on what is accessed and when.
