The short answer

Pick ShiftJuggler if you want a focused, German-language tool for shift planning, time tracking and working-time accounts at a low package price, and your data must stay in Germany.

Pick Soon if the plan itself is the problem: demand forecasting, automatic scheduling under hard working-time rules, round-the-clock operations, planning with freelancers and an open API. Soon’s time tracking is not available yet (coming soon).

Where ShiftJuggler is the better fit

These points favour ShiftJuggler, and for some teams they are the ones that matter most:

German product, German-language, hosted only in Germany

ShiftJuggler is built in Berlin, is German-language, and according to its security page hosts exclusively in Germany, with its own database instance per customer and a data processing agreement.

Time tracking, working-time accounts and surcharges today

Time tracking via app and browser, planned vs actual, overtime balance, working-time accounts and surcharges are part of ShiftJuggler’s standard package. Soon’s time tracking is coming soon; we make no statement on working-time accounts and surcharges on this page.

Documented checks against the German Working Time Act

ShiftJuggler describes a running check for rest periods, maximum hours and missing breaks under German working-time law.

Low package price and a 30 day trial

ShiftJuggler charges by package per team size, with no base fee and support included, and lets you try it for 30 days without payment details.

A lean product for clearly structured operations

ShiftJuggler’s industry pages address hotels, daycare centres, medical practices, pharmacies, security services and volunteering.

How ShiftJuggler charges

Package prices per month by team size, billed yearly (monthly billing in brackets), excluding VAT: up to 15 people €34 (€39), 31 to 60 people €139 (€149), 61 to 120 people €279 (€299). Automatic roster creation and the time-clock terminal interface are add-ons on request.

Where Soon is the better fit

Forecasting and automatic scheduling

Soon calculates staffing needs with AI-supported demand forecasting (Scale plan) and builds schedules automatically (from the Grow plan). At ShiftJuggler, automatic roster creation is an add-on on request, and we found no demand forecasting on the pages we read.

Automatic scheduling in Soon

24/7 operations, overtime equalisation and labour rules

Soon is built for round-the-clock operations such as public safety and care. Working-time and scheduling rules and overtime equalisation are configurable rather than fixed.

Shift scheduling in Soon

Open API, SSO and Microsoft Teams

Soon offers an open REST API and integrations. SSO (SAML/OIDC) and directory sync (SCIM) are part of the Enterprise plan. The Microsoft Teams app is live; schedule notifications inside Teams are not available.

Soon in Microsoft Teams

Freelancers, BPO and multiple clients

Planning with freelancers is a strength of Soon, as is running operations for multiple clients (BPO). Self-scheduling and shift swaps are included on all plans.

BPO scheduling for multiple clients

How Soon charges

Soon charges per user and month. According to the pricing page: Grow €8 billed yearly (€10 monthly), Scale €16 (€20 monthly), Enterprise on request. Trials last 30 days on Grow and 60 days on Scale. The models are not directly comparable: ShiftJuggler charges a package per team size, Soon charges per user, and at ShiftJuggler automatic scheduling is an extra add-on. For small teams that do not need forecasting or automation, ShiftJuggler is cheaper at list price.

Scheduling in broadcasting, AV and multimedia, and with freelancers

Operations with on-air, production or event-technology teams often plan around the clock, mix permanent staff and freelancers, and have to re-plan at short notice. What matters in scheduling software: shift sequences and rest periods, surcharges by collective agreement, qualifications per duty, availability of freelancers and a hand-over to HR and planning systems through an API.

Soon has clients in the AV and multimedia industry and is strong in planning with freelancers and in 24/7 operations: configurable working-time rules, overtime equalisation, self-scheduling and an open API. Surcharges by agreement and working-time accounts are the point to check with every vendor; for Soon, please ask us for the current status.

ShiftJuggler has no industry page for broadcasting, media or control rooms on the pages we read; for clearly structured operations with time tracking and surcharges it is well positioned.

What Soon does not do (yet)

To keep the comparison honest, here are Soon’s limits:

  • Time tracking (clock in/out, timesheets) is coming soon, not live yet.
  • We make no statement on this page about working-time accounts, surcharges or DATEV export. Ask us for the current status.
  • Soon does not offer real-time adherence.
  • The Microsoft Teams app does not show schedule notifications inside Teams.
  • SOC 2 Type 1 is being examined and the report is not available yet; Soon does not hold an ISO 27001 certificate.
  • For small teams that do not need forecasting or automation, ShiftJuggler’s list price is lower.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Soon and ShiftJuggler?

ShiftJuggler is a German cloud tool for shift planning, time tracking, leave and working-time accounts, hosted only in Germany. Soon is an EU-based workforce management platform (Netherlands), established since 2019, with AI-supported scheduling, demand forecasting and a focus on 24/7 operations. Soon’s time tracking is coming soon.

Does ShiftJuggler have automatic scheduling?

Yes, as a paid add-on. ShiftJuggler describes automatic roster creation as rule-based optimisation using your rules, availabilities and working-time limits, offered on request (checked 28 October 2026). In Soon, automated shift scheduling is included from the Grow plan and demand forecasting from the Scale plan.

Does ShiftJuggler offer demand forecasting?

We found no demand forecasting on ShiftJuggler’s public pages (checked 28 October 2026); the number of people needed is set per shift. Soon offers AI-supported demand forecasting on the Scale plan.

Does ShiftJuggler have an API or integrations?

Its public pages do not describe an API, SSO, directory sync or an integration catalogue (checked 28 October 2026). That is not proof it has none, so ask ShiftJuggler directly. Soon offers an open REST API and integrations; SSO (SAML/OIDC) and directory sync (SCIM) are part of the Enterprise plan.

How much do ShiftJuggler and Soon cost?

ShiftJuggler prices by team-size package, not per user: €34 a month billed yearly (€39 monthly) for up to 15 people, €139 or €149 for 31 to 60 people, excluding VAT. Automatic scheduling is an add-on on request. Soon charges per user: Grow €8 a month billed yearly (€10 monthly), Scale €16 (€20), Enterprise on request. For small teams that do not need forecasting or automation, ShiftJuggler is cheaper at list price.

Where is data hosted, at ShiftJuggler and at Soon?

ShiftJuggler hosts only in data centres in Germany and separates the database per customer. Soon hosts in the EU, and US hosting is available. Soon does not hold an ISO 27001 certificate and its SOC 2 Type 1 examination is in progress; ShiftJuggler says it is building an ISO/IEC 27001 management system.

Which is better for 24/7 operations with freelancers, for example in AV and multimedia?

Soon is built for round-the-clock operations under strict working-time rules, with changing teams and freelancers: configurable rules, overtime equalisation, self-scheduling and an open API. Soon has clients in the AV and multimedia industry. ShiftJuggler also plans night and continuous shifts with working-time checks, but has no industry page for broadcasting or media.

Which should I choose if I need time tracking today?

If time tracking, working-time accounts and surcharges are a must today, ShiftJuggler fits better: clocking in via app or browser is part of the standard package. Soon’s time tracking (clock in/out, timesheets) is coming soon. If forecasting, automatic scheduling, an open API or 24/7 rules matter more, shortlist Soon.

Can I switch from ShiftJuggler to Soon?

Yes. Soon can import data from ShiftJuggler as long as you can export it there; ShiftJuggler names Excel and PDF export, and its features page also names CSV. Create a Soon workspace, export your data and tell us which parts you want to bring over.

Sources and method

We read the vendors’ public pages on 28 October 2026 and tested nothing hands-on. Soon makes this page, so we name ShiftJuggler’s strengths explicitly and write "not described on the pages we read" instead of "does not have". Corrections are welcome and we fix them.
